Internal logistics

Land and sea inside Nigeria. Barges chartered for you.

From the port or airport to your site, Cargoa moves your cargo by road and by water. When a load is too heavy or too bulky for trucks, we charter the barge.

Road when speed and reach matter. Water when weight and volume do.

Barge charter

When a truck is the wrong tool.

One barge can carry what would take many truck trips, and it keeps heavy loads off crowded roads. We handle the charter so you can plan your project.

  • Heavy equipment, generators, pipes, steel and project cargo
  • Bulk materials and containers
  • Routes between ports, jetties and riverside sites
  • One partner for the vessel, the paperwork and the plan

Cabotage rules apply

Moving cargo between points in Nigeria by water falls under the Coastal and Inland Shipping (Cabotage) Act 2003. It generally requires vessels that are registered, owned, crewed and built in Nigeria, unless a waiver or licence is granted.

We source vessels that fit the Act and work with you on any waiver or licence a particular job needs.

FAQ

Internal logistics questions

What is internal logistics?

It is the movement of cargo inside Nigeria: from the port or airport to your warehouse, between your sites, or to your customers. Cargoa arranges it by road and by water.

Can you charter a barge for my cargo?

Yes. We charter barges and arrange tugs for heavy, bulky and bulk cargo, project cargo and containers on Nigerian waterways, where water transport is cheaper or the only practical option.

Do barge charters follow Nigerian maritime law?

Domestic coastal and inland shipping in Nigeria is governed by the Coastal and Inland Shipping (Cabotage) Act 2003, which generally reserves that trade for vessels registered, owned, crewed and built in Nigeria unless a waiver or licence applies. We source suitable vessels and work with you on any waiver or licence needed.

What cargo can you move by road?

Containers, palletised goods, machinery, building materials, project cargo and general cargo, on trucks and trailers matched to the load. Tell us the weight, dimensions and destination.

Can you handle dangerous goods inside Nigeria?

Dangerous goods need suitable vehicles, trained drivers and the right documents on the road leg. Tell us the product and we confirm what is required before we quote.

Need cargo moved inside Nigeria?

Tell us the pickup point, destination and what you are moving. We reply with options for road or barge.
