Import documents review

Find the mistakes before customs does.

Cargoa checks your invoice, packing list, Form M, transport document, insurance and permits against each other and against your goods, so your cargo clears the first time.

Import documents with an approval stamp and a magnifier
What we check

One mismatch can hold a container for weeks.

A different weight on two documents, a description customs cannot match, a missing permit. We read your file the way a clearing officer will.

Form M and the bank file

Form M is filed through your authorised dealer bank. We check that its details match the invoice and the goods.

Commercial invoice and packing list

Descriptions, quantities, values and weights must agree between the invoice, packing list and transport document.

Air waybill or bill of lading

Consignee, goods description and marks agree with the rest of the file, with dangerous goods details where they apply.

Insurance certificate

A valid marine insurance certificate is part of Form M documentation. We confirm it covers the right goods and value.

Permits and certificates

Product certificates such as SONCAP, NAFDAC for food, drugs and cosmetics, and other agency permits matched to your product.

Prohibited and restricted goods

We check your product against the Nigeria Customs import prohibition list before you commit to a purchase.

Requirements depend on the product and change over time. We confirm what applies to your shipment.

How the review works

Send the file. Get a clear list back.

  1. 01

    Send your documents

Share the proforma or commercial invoice, packing list and any permits by WhatsApp or email.

  2. 02

    We cross-check

Every figure, name and description is compared across the file and against Nigerian import requirements.

  3. 03

    You get a findings list

What is correct, what does not match and who must fix it: you, your supplier, your bank or us.

  4. 04

    Ship with confidence

Once the file is clean, we move the cargo and handle clearance.

Why it pays

Problems are cheapest to fix before the cargo moves.

Fewer delays

Clean files move through clearance faster than files that need queries and corrections.

Fewer surprise costs

Catch errors and missing permits before they turn into storage charges and rework.

Your supplier gets clear instructions

We tell you exactly what the supplier must correct, so the fix is one message, not a week of back and forth.

FAQ

Import documents questions

When should I send my documents for review?

Before you pay your supplier or ship. Problems found at that stage are cheap to fix. The same documents found wrong at the port can mean delays, storage charges and rework.

Which documents do you review?

Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, Form M, marine insurance certificate, certificates of origin, product certificates and agency permits, and for dangerous goods the Safety Data Sheet and shipper's declaration.

Do you tell me which permits my product needs?

Yes. We match your product to the approvals it is likely to need, for example product certification for regulated goods, NAFDAC for food, drugs and cosmetics, or other agency permits, and we check the goods against the Nigeria Customs import prohibition list. Requirements change, so we confirm what applies to your shipment.

What do I get back?

A clear written list of what is correct, what does not match and what must be fixed, with who needs to fix it (you, your supplier, your bank or us).

Is the review only for shipments with Cargoa?

The review is most useful when it is part of a Cargoa shipment, because we can act on what we find. Contact us if you want a standalone review.
